Distress hotline lines are a FREE and CONFIDENTIAL service that provides short-term emotional, mental and psychological support to anyone who may be in distress. Staff are extensively trained in the area of crisis intervention and are available to support you by listening to your concerns, providing emotional support and connecting you to resources in your community. Connect with them day or night, a support staff will answer! Distress lines are available 24/7.
Operators will work with callers to gain a better understanding of their specific distress. This is done by asking empathetic, relevant, and situational questions, all while respecting the caller's limits and boundaries. These questions help the operator gain a better understanding of your current circumstance. The operator will help you formulate a plan to help navigate your situation, as well as connect you to resources in your community.
Distress lines are equipped to help you with whatever issue YOU deem to be distressing. This can include but is not limited to:

Many distress lines have expanded their services to include texting options, online messaging and social messaging options.
