The YWCA is a nationwide organization dedicated to the empowerment and advocacy of women, girls, Two-Spirit and gender diverse people. Through education, advocacy, and social engagement, YWCA has been a catalyst for support, healing and change in our communities. In Alberta, YWCA provides many programs and services including counselling, advocacy, sexual education, family and children's services and activities, disability services, and fitness programming. YWCA offers both Individual and group therapy aimed at fostering resiliency, building on your support network and inspiring change. The fees for the services the YWCA provides have a wide range. In Edmonton, counselling services are $5-$200 per 50-minute session, with a sliding scale available. Of over 3500 counselling sessions each year, 99% are partially or fully subsidized!
YWCA aims to support adults and children with disabilities as well as their families. Services include hourly respite, host respite, support homes, and family behavioural consultations. The focus is on enhancing the quality of life through goal setting and personal achievement.
YWCA offers two different programs for female youths.GirlSpace is an afterschool program to support girls in living a healthy and safe life, while the Girls Counselling Group provides a safe place to receive support, ask questions, and discuss relevant topics.
